Serving covers the practical choices that present a wine at its best: temperature, glassware, decanting, pouring order and timing. Right temperature unlocks aroma and balance; a suitable glass concentrates the bouquet; decanting aerates young wines or separates older ones from sediment. Serving young before old, lighter before fuller, and dry before sweet lets each wine show well. Good serving can elevate any bottle.

Serving is the final, controllable step between cellar and palate. Correct temperature and a clean, appropriate glass do more for a wine than any gadget; decanting decisions especially reward knowing the wine's age and structure.
