The Loire Valley follows France's longest river through a patchwork of cool-climate appellations, making it the country's most diverse region. It is famous for crisp Sauvignon Blanc (Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé), versatile Chenin Blanc (Vouvray, Savennières), fresh Muscadet on the Atlantic coast, and light, leafy Cabernet Franc reds (Chinon, Bourgueil). Bright acidity and freshness unite its many styles.
