Marsanne is a rich, full-bodied white from the Northern Rhône, usually partnered with Roussanne. It gives weighty, low-acid wines of pear, almond, quince and honeysuckle, gaining a waxy, nutty, honeyed depth with age. The dominant white of Hermitage and Crozes-Hermitage, it also has a stronghold in Australia's Victoria, home to some of the world's oldest Marsanne vines.
