Pinot Meunier is the unsung third grape of Champagne, prized for fruit, roundness and early approachability. A mutation of Pinot Noir with a floury ('meunier' means miller) underside to its leaves, it ripens earlier and more reliably, adding red-apple and stone-fruit generosity to blends. Once purely a blending grape, it now stars in characterful single-varietal Champagnes and sparkling wines.

Structure

BodyMeunier brings fruit-forward charm and softness that make non-vintage Champagne approachable young, balancing Chardonnay's austerity and Pinot Noir's structure. Its earlier ripening suits Champagne's cooler, frost-prone sites. Grower-producers increasingly bottle it solo to showcase its rounded, fruity personality.
